"Beowulf the Dragon Slayer - Truth or Fantasy?"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Nazareth Hall Chapel (the building nearest the lake)
A colorful presentation by Russ McGlenn on literature that tells of ancient people killing dinosaurs. Featured will be dinosaur models and weapons used to slay dracans (dragons) the old English name for dinosaurs.
When people studied Beowulf in high school, the traditional interpretation of the poem was that it was a fantasy about ancient Danish peoples and their fight with trolls. No one took it seriously. It was made into a movie a few years back that continued this myth. Bill Cooper, an English language scholar, has written a book called "After the Flood." He makes a good argument for Beowulf being a historical figure killing Dinosaurs as described in the poem. Russ will bring to life this incredible historical record using models, reenactments, and colorful Power Point slides. If you have a sword, dagger, shield, helmet and want to bring it to the meeting to display please do so (carefully) or want to come dressed in ancient battle gear. Two prizes will be given for the weapon that best fits Beowulf's dragon slayer sword or dagger and for the best costume.
Questions answered:
Grendel. What kind of dinosaur was he?
What ancient weapon finally slew Grendel's mother?
What was the fire breathing dragon that killed Beowulf?
What is a dragon harpoon?

"The Origin of Life: from geophysics to biology?"
PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY COLLOQUIUM
University of Minnesota, minneapolis Campus, Room 131 Physics Building
Refreshments served in Room 216 Physics after colloquium
One of the deepest and most controversial questions of our time is
that of the origin of life. In this lecture a hypothesis is
presented, according to which the temperature gradients existing in
the earth - which led to plate tectonics and the formation of
undersea thermal vents - also led to the evolution of life around
these vents. Movies and data will be shown of experiments in which
all stages of this scenario are presented: how thermal gradients led
to plate tectonics, to DNA amplification in thermal vents, to
polymerization of peptides at high pressure and to the organization
of bacteria. This mixture of physics, chemistry, and biology
illustrates how life could originate without the intervention of the
sun, driven only by geophysical thermal gradients.

HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COLLOQUIUM
Kenneth Weiss, Department of Anthropology, Pennsylvania State
University
"How Complicated Is Life and How Did It Get that Way?"
In the 150 years since Darwin's Origin of Species, thousands of
investigators have studied the phenogenetic relationships, between
genotypes and phenotypes, in plants, animals, and unicellular
organisms. Interestingly, despite the greatness of his
contributions, some of Darwin's most important questions remain
problematic even today. The nature of genetic causation is one of
them. Recent advances in technology have enabled very large studies
to map the genetic basis of many traits, including normal variation
and disease. However, except for what appear to be simple
'Mendelian' traits, these efforts have typically only been able to
account for a fraction of the overall genetic contribution to the
trait. What we see is a few genes with replicably detectable
effects, such as between cases and controls. But most of the
heritability seems to be due to hundreds of genes with variants that
are rare or very rare, and that mainly make individually small
contributions to the trait. This is a problem of many-to-many
causation that fits a classical model in quantitative genetics and
evolution. New analytic approaches are attempting to come to grips
with this causal landscape by playing with ideas of hypothesis and
other kinds of statistical testing in epistemologically interesting
ways. Rather than enumerating causes, there is a desire to assemble
them into causal networks, but how we find and use such constructs
is itself a work in progress. However, if we consider the basic
nature of cells, tissues, and organisms, and how they have evolved,
we understand networks as complex systems of interaction of causal
elements, most of which can vary but whose presence in time and
space must be compatible. From this point of view, it is productive
to think of organisms in terms of intricate cooperation rather than
competition.

Dr. Michael Wise
"The Dead Sea Scrolls"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Nazareth Hall Chapel (the building nearest the lake)
The Science museum of Minnesota will be exhibiting The Dead Sea Scrolls beginning March 12, 2010.
Dr. Wise is one of the foremost young scholars on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the lead translator of The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Translation. The publisher says this:
The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Translation is a landmark work that brings to life the long-inaccessible ancient scrolls of Qumran. Three distinguished translators at the forefront of modern scrolls scholarship reveal the rich tapestry of writings known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. This is the most comprehensive translation ever compiled for the general reader in any language.
Translated into modern-day English by Michael Wise, Martin Abegg, Jr., and Edward Cook, this book contains virtually every legible portion of the fragmented scrolls, including revelatory information on early Christianity and its roots far deeper than previously realized in ancient Judaism. Included as well are scroll fragments that promise to dramatically alter our view of biblical history, including never-before released texts and newly discovered writings by and about key biblical prophets and ancestors. The translators provide illuminating commentary throughout that place the scrolls in their true historical context. They also present a compelling, insightful introduction that gives the reader an overview of the often surprising contents of the scrolls and discusses what are perhaps the greatest mysteries of the scrolls - who authored them and why.
From a new generation of Dead Sea Scrolls scholars, here is a fresh look, including the most recently released texts, at the scrolls. Michael Wise, Martin Abegg, Jr., and Edward Cook unlock the secrets and rich mysteries of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the most comprehensive translation ever published for the general reader in any language. Their brilliant scholarship and illuminating commentary add dramatic new knowledge to our understanding of the scrolls. This historic translation includes:
* Intriguing revelations about biblical history and the roots of Christianity.
* Never-before-seen stories about the biblical figures Abraham, Jacob, and Enoch---including a text explaining why God demanded the sacrifice of Isaac.
* Twelve texts not included in the Bible that claim Moses as their author.
* New psalms attributed to King David and to Joshua.
* Texts illuminating ancient doctrines about angels and writings claiming to be revelations of angels themselves including the Archangel Michael.
* The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Translation will set the standard for scrolls scholarship for years to come. This is an important, rigorously researched work that renders the scrolls vibrant and accessible.
In their great variety and stunning richness, the Dead Sea Scrolls as captured in this groundbreaking translation offer modern readers an unprecedented glimpse of the complex roots of modern Christianity. Its dozens of never-before published texts encompass poetry and prose, teaching parables and magical tales, astrology, apocalyptic visions, lists of buried treasure, stories of messiahs and antichrists, demons and angels and together, comprise a new classic of religious history.
Long withheld from public view, the ancient scrolls found in the caves of Qumran near the Dead Sea are revered by many but known in full by very few. Now three translators at the forefront of modern scrolls scholarship have revealed the entire rich complex of writings, stories, poems, and texts known as the Dead Sea Scrolls.

"Gospel in the Stars"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota

Why do cultures all over the world use the same constellations? If you were to step outside on a starry night, which dot-to-dot would you connect to make a constellation? What is surprising is that most cultures use the same star patterns. Why is that? And with these star patterns came a story. What is that ancient story? It is the gospel of Jesus Christ and this was "written" in the stars from the beginning.
Julie Von Vett has been teaching creation science at homeschool co-ops. Next year's lessons will be on the human body. She also has been a guest speaker at churches. Julie just loves to get the word out.

Two Heavyweights Battle on Huge Topic
P.Z. Myers has stated that teachers who accept intelligent design are pseudo-scientists who should be fired and publicly humiliated. Jerry Bergman was denied tenure and subjected to a hostile work environment at Bowling Green University for his beliefs, despite being the most productive member of his department and most popular teacher.
Dr. Myers website, www.scienceblogs.com/pharyngula, is a focal point for those who oppose intelligent design theory. Dr. Bergman has written Slaughter of the Dissidents: The Shocking Truth About Killing The Careers Of Darwin Doubters, detailing the way Dr. Myers' vision is actually
being carried out.
Is it logical to do so? Is it science? Is it education? Is it right? Come and hear. Then decide for yourselves.

The event is co-sponsored by Campus Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists (CASH) and Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Myers has fired the opening shots in his blog already. And has he summarized the science that will blow his opposition out of the water? No, he has focussed on typos in the notice and personal attacks on his opponent. Click HERE and HERE.
In reaction to President Bush's policies, Dr. Myers stated,"I say, screw the polite words and careful rhetoric. It's time for scientists to break out the steel-toed boots and brass knuckles, and get out there and hammer on the lunatics and idiots."
Although the original quotes are no longer searchable on Dr. Myers' website, those who have seen and commented on them are many, such as Telic Thoughts and Issuepedia. Some of his friends call for more peaceful language and his defenders say things like "he is only speaking metaphorically." Hmmm, then why are pro-lifers who have said far less than that held responsible for killings of abortionists? And reading down the blog offerings, it is clear that Dr. Myers does NOT repudiate the call for a monopolistic indoctrination of students, by whatever means possible. He even claims that the tactics need to be stepped up because after 150 years of rational dialogue, evolution is still being questioned by about 2/3 of the American people. Maybe he should consider the possibility that he might be wrong?? NAAA!!!
Webmaster's comment: Campus Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists (CASH) have been extremely helpful and cordial. It is ironic that their advisor, Dr. Myers, does not seem to feel any obligation to observe the conventions of polite society.
One of the most emotional topics was the connection of evolution with Hitler.

The Delaware Indians have the most detailed Native American record concerning their origin - extending back to the origin of humanity. An original document given to a medical doctor in the earlier 1800's, translated by a linguist genius over a twenty year period before the civil war, and essentially lost for the next hundred years has only resurfaced in the last few decades. This document reveals an astounding confirmation of the Biblical account of early earth history - including creation, the entrance of death, the worldwide flood, intriguing references to the post flood ice age, and other details of earth history confirming Biblical truth.
Bruce Malone recounts the captivating story of the discovery/translation/preservation of this remarkable, yet little known, Native American document. The Red Record also provides a fascinating confirmation of Biblical explanations for ice age mysteries - such as why mankind traveled into North America and how millions of Woolly Mammoths became "quick frozen" in the Siberian/Canadian Tundra. This talk also places the Red Record into a broader perspective by summarizing the Biblical agreement of earth history with over 250 other flood legends from around the world.
The talk will end with a new approach to reaching the next generation using the newly released Censored Science book as a springboard for reclaiming our culture.

HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COLLOQUIUM
"Trying Galileo"
Thomas Mayer, Department of History,
Medieval and Renaissance Studies,
Augustana College-Rock Island, Illinois
131 Physics Bldg, University of Minnesota, East Bank
Galileo did himself in. True, he had help, whether from Paul V and
Urban VIII, the Jesuits, the Dominicans, the Congregation of the
Index or even the Inquisition, but his fate was still largely his
own fault. This talk focuses on his two trials before the Roman
Inquisition, first in 1615 and again in 1632, the second
leading to his condemnation for violating an order given in 1616 to
abandon the belief that the sun was the center of the universe.
Unlike most previous approaches, mine does not assume that the
outcome was inevitable. Nor does it assume that philosophical,
scientific or even theological issues were necessarily
determinative. Instead, it takes a legal and political approach
beginning from the fact that Galileo arrogantly rejected a legal way
out of his second trial. Since both of his investigations contained
lots of legal oddities, examining the Inquisition's procedures
(which have almost been ignored until very recently) leads to a much
different picture than the still dominant view that Galileo was a
victim of intolerance and superstition. Unfortunately, the Vatican's
recent proposal to reopen the case (including yet another
publication of its acts) rests on at least two fundamental
misunderstandings of Inquisition procedure: the fact that three
cardinals and the pope did not sign Galileo's sentence is
insignificant. Popes never signed sentences and at least some of the
cardinals often did not. Some sentences were signed only by the
Inquisition's commissary. Despite Urban's missing signature, in both
trials the pope's role turns out to be vital. But equally, in both
cases Paul and Urban had to at least bend if not break the rules in
order to bring Galileo to book. He gave them both plenty of
provocation.

ORIGINS OF MAN
This talk takes a look at the origins of man and a look at evolutionary lack of evidence. Subjects include: we all look at the evidence in different ways (same evidence -- different bias), human evolution chart, Neanderthal man, Ramapithecus, Java man, Australopithecus (Lucy), Laetoli ash fields, Piltdown man, and Nebraska man. A goal here is to teach children to recognize artwork and to ask the question, "What's the Evidence?" The evidence does not point to evolution, but to Biblical Creation as the better answer! With adult audiences may also include a short talk about how old is the earth and problems with the dating methods used today.
Lanny and Marilyn Johnson are former evolutionists trained in the sciences. Creation teaching was instrumental in bringing them to a settled assurance that all of God's Word can be trusted. In 1993, God led them to join Alpha Omega Institute and establish the Children's Ministry to fortify children with the truth of the Bible and to help them avoid the pitfalls of evolution.

Paul tells us in Romans, chapter one, the more you look at creation, the more you're going to see God. When we study the evidence in the world around us it becomes obvious that Somebody made this universe. A look at fascinating Fibonacci numbers and the Divine Proportion are just one more example of the endless incredible design found everywhere in nature -- design that could never happen by the chance and accident of evolution. The evidence it is clear that it is "God that made the world and all things therein," (Acts 17:24a). Only the hand of God could create such marvelous wonders that we find around us!

In 1967 Egypt was defeated militarily by Israel in a devastating war that lasted six days. Some likened it to the victory Moses had over Pharaoh as seen in the book of Exodus. What happened to modern Egypt pales by comparison when one looks at the literary and archeological evidence of the Exodus and how many people died as a result of the plagues God brought on Egypt.
Why is there a blackout in modern literature on what happened to Egypt in the Exodus?
Why was a mummy identified by modern scholars as "Unknown Man E" described as the most unusual mummy every discovered from any period of Egyptian history?
Is this the son of the Pharaoh who died in the last plague that God sent on Egypt during the Exodus?
Is there any scientific evidence that Egypt was affected by a catastrophic event such as described in the Bible?
What happened to the Egyptian leadership and people after Moses left with the Hebrews?
Using several ancient manuscripts, archeological records, and over 75 colorful photos of Egyptian life, Russ will answer these questions and more to show evidence outside the Bible that corroborates the greatest disaster ever to affect Egypt.

In The Grammar of Science (1892), Karl Pearson explained the
application of Darwinian evolutionary principles to the human
species: "a capable and stalwart race of white men should replace a
dark-skinned tribe which can neither utilize its land for the full
benefit of mankind, nor contribute its quota to the common stock of
human knowledge," and later clarified, "there is cause for human
satisfaction in the replacement of the aborigines throughout America
and Australia by white races of far higher civilization." This is
problematic because if the choice is between genocide or
creationism, the correct choice is obviously creationism. It is also
problematic because if Pearson was misrepresenting Darwinism (and
where were you when he laid the foundations of quantitative biology?"
Job 38:4) then it undermines the credibility of other generations
of scientists who also claim to speak authoritatively about
evolution. Accepting that creationists seek to undermine science
education in America, I will discuss the failure of biology to deal
adequately with them. I will suggest that an anthropological,
relativistic approach may have some value in identifying and solving
some of the problems raised by the persistence of creationism.

Although storms, droughts and temperature extremes demonstrate the fallenness of our present world system, the design seen in weather patterns allows life to be sustained on planet earth.
Weather is more talked about than any other topic. God has arranged the weather system on the earth. There are patterns to this weather. How does a tornado form? What causes hurricanes? Why aren't raindrops larger? Science is about finding patterns and then predicting what will happen. The study of weather allows us to think God's thoughts
after him.

The human brain is a 100 billion-circuit computer designed far beyond the
comprehension of our brain. Some nerves actually "listen to" 100 other nerves. And, we need every one of them. The perfect organization and coordinated control of such a vast array of "talking cells" cries out for a Perfect Designer.
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) results from the chemical disturbance of these nerves. Normal thinking and body functions degenerate until they completely fail; there is still no cure. You have a one-in-ten chance of getting AD when you reach age 65. By age 85, your chances are 50%!
What are the possible causes of AD? Can you reduce your chances of getting it? Can you slow up the disease? You will see photographs of the internal brain-both normal and AD. Web-links for local and national support agencies will be listed.

"Why Evolution is Incompatible with Scripture"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room F2128 (Old F116)
In this message Jason will explain from God's word why the theory of
evolution simply does not fit with God's record of creation, the fall, or
God's plan of salvation. Using basic theological truths Jason demonstrates
that for any Christian who wants to maintain a high view of Scripture,
embracing the theory of evolution is just not an option.
Many Christians think that they can straddle the fence between evolution and the Bible. They do not understand the significance of what they are doing to the integrity of Scripture and the nature of God. Most of our meetings deal with the scientific evidence for creation. This one looks hard at the Biblical evidence against evolution.

11. All the Monkeys in the Barrel
111. The Eight Days of Creation
1V. Inheriting Four Strong Winds
Educational and theological struggles symbolized by the Scopes Trial of 1925 have never been more timely than today. Most of the issues of 1925 are the same ones debated today:
The teaching of theory as fact;
Non public discussion of conflicting points of view;
Separation of church and/or from state;
Conservative versus liberal (modernism) Christianity;
Young earth versus old earth;
Reliability of the Bible as fact; and,
Did death precede sin, or, sin precede death?
Yet the actual Scopes trial dealt with none of the above issues in a straight forward manner.
The trial legend is far more myth than reality
Press reports did not report the actual trial
Good guys and bad guys are hard to tell apart
(20 lawyers in one room can be confusing)
Creation/evolution issues were hardly discussed at all
Defendant John Scopes was the Prosecutor's best friend
Scopes never taught Evolution in the Dayton High School
The jury missed 90% of the trial
The Broadway Play and "Inherit" movies are not factual
The actual trial was nothing like the news reports and the movie was fiction.
Yet it marked the opening salvo of the ACLU's attack on truth by way of media manipulation.

Session 3: In this session, a brief review of special relativity and its weaknesses will be covered. The staggering assumptions needed to finish special relativity and to give birth to general relativity will be evaluated. The assumptions needed to make relativity work cast reasonable doubt on special and
general relativity. Science and our culture suffer from an uncritical acceptance of these assumptions.
All--99%, at least--of the world's physicists praise Einstein. Certainly, this universal confirmation
must make what I say nonsense. Since we have all been through studies of evolution,
we understand that eyes are blinded to the weaknesses of evolution because with the alternative,
man must face GOD.

-both evolution and creation are outside of the realm of science, so how can we scientifically tell which one is correct?
- The scientific tool of Intelligent design which even children use -information -Noah's ark and the dinosaurs
I might also touch on:
-living fossils (can be a good 15 minute talk alone) -fast fossils -complexity of life (i.e., the ammonite) -dinosaurs and humans in modern times."

"Are We Alone? Imaging Extrasolar Earthlike Planets from Space"
Nothing has captured the human imagination more than the prospect
of life outside our own solar system. We are incredibly fortunate
that our generation may for the first time get a peek at other
worlds, an opportunity to search for life outside our own
neighborhood. NASA is currently engaged in a series of mission
studies, one of which is being led from Princeton, for a large space
observatory to image extrasolar earthlike planets. Such an
observatory could be launched as early as the next decade; it will
search for terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of roughly 150
nearby stars and characterize them for the potential to harbor life.
It will culminate 20 years of indirect planet finding with the first
direct image of an extrasolar Earthlike planet. This talk will
discuss the recent history of planet finding methods and two
concepts being studied at Princeton for a planet finding space
telescope, an internal coronagraph and an external occulter. An
internal coronagraph uses specially designed masks in the optical
train of the telescope, combined with deformable mirrors and a
wavefront control system, to attenuate the light from the star and
make the companion planet visible. An external occulter is a large
screen (roughly 50 m in diameter) flying far from the telescope
(about 72,000 km). The occulter blocks the starlight from entering
the telescope while letting the planet light through. I'll describe
the technologies behind these two methods and our progress in both
mission design and laboratory verification.

Ian Taylor of Creation Moments
"Feathered Dinosaurs: Fact or Fiction"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room F2128 (Old F116)
Those fascinating dinosaurs! The media make pronouncements that are accepted by the public as revealed truth, not knowing all the behind-the-scenes uncertainty. Often a scientist makes a cautious, nuanced pronouncement, suitable for a refereed journal that will be read by specialists who know the limitations of the findings. An awestruck reporter turns it into a "story" worthy of headlines. The most publicized recent feathered dinosaur was Archaeoraptor. An artist's reconstruction was featured on the cover of National Geographic with pictures of the slab containing the fossil inside the issue. When the counter slab was located showing that feathers had been added, proving it to be a fraud, National Geographic published an obscure retraction, hidden in the back of an issue, stating that the fossil was "a composite."
Beside this, the findings of blood cells and elastic tissue, unfossilized, in T Rex bone marrow, shows clearly that dinosaurs were around thousands of years ago and could not have been extinct for 65 million years.
It seems that all dinosaur reconstructions now feature feathers. How strong is the case? If you already believe that dinosaurs evolved into birds, then every frayed collagen fiber and every feather, that might actually be a true bird feather buried near a dinosaur, will be accepted as confirmation. Mr. Taylor, author of In the Minds of Men and Executive Director of Creation Moments is the author and voice of their radio program.

By the late Dr. James Kennedy
"Darwin's Deadly Legacy"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, F2128 (Old Room 116)
PG Rated: Contains Scenes of the Holocaust
The social consequences of Darwin's theory are something that evolutionists would like to sweep under the rug. But everything from predatory capitalism to the holocaust can be traced to the intellectual foundation of evolution. Marx and Mao took their inspiration from the idea of inevitable progress -- especially if obstacles, such as millions of opponents, can be removed. Youth who are told to "make something of their lives" by teachers who also tell them that they are accidental members of an accidental species are only being logical if they resort to hedonism or even suicide.
This groundbreaking documentary from Dr. Kennedy and Coral Ridge Ministries, looks into the chilling social impact of Darwin's theory of evolution -- and the mounting evidence that Darwin had it wrong on the origin of life.
This 60 minute special featuring Ann Coulter, author of Godless; Richard Weikart, author of From Darwin to Hitler, Lee Strobel, author of The Case for a Creator; Jonathan Wells, author of Icons of Evolution; Phillip Johnson, author of Darwin on Trial; Michael Behe, author of Darwin's Black Box, and Ian Taylor, author of In the Minds of Men will show why evolution is a bad idea that should be discarded into the dustbin of history.

"'Peak Oil:' Are We Running Out Of Oil
And Does God Care?"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
For the environmental movement, besides climate change and overpopulation, oil shortage takes a prominent place in their list of crises. And if you think that oil takes millions of years to form and the earth can only be saved by enlightened human beings, then the cause might be reasonable, although probably hopeless. Russ McGlenn will show that hope comes only from a very different direction and a perspective so old that it seems radical.
What does the scientific evidence say? Are we running out of oil? Will wind and solar power replace coal, oil and nuclear power? Is "peak oil" a real issue or a worldview problem?
The Biblical view is that God has provided enough energy to last until Christ's return. We are charged with stewardship of the earth but also told that most of all, God loves people and provides for their needs. Utopian ideas that increase the suffering of "the least of these" cannot be God’s will.

"The Genesis Record In Ancient Chinese Characters"
The Historicity Of Genesis Confirmed By Analysis Of Oldest Continuously Used System Of Writing
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Biography
Richard Broadberry has spent many years in Taiwan and Mainland China working in the field of Transfusion Medicine as a Biomedical Scientist. He has published almost 100 articles in that field. In addition, he is co-author of several books detailing how the ancient Chinese worshiped the same God as the ancient Hebrew people. He is married to Maggie and they are proud parents of 2 beautiful adopted Chinese daughters with a third one on the way.
Summary of talk
The original religion of China was a belief in the God of the Bible. For more than 4000 years the Emperor of China annually offered animal sacrifices to the Creator God of the Universe whom the Chinese called 'ShangDi' or 'Heaven'. This sacrifice pointed to the death of the coming Saviour, God's Son Jesus Christ, who gave His life for the sins of the world on a wooden cross. 'The Border Sacrifice' as this ceremony came to be called, was discontinued in 1911 when the last Emperor of China was deposed.
In addition, a more recent discovery is that the ancient Chinese writing contains the same historical record as detailed in the early chapters of Genesis, the first book of the Hebrew Scriptures.
Mr. Broadberry is a Trustee of CSM (Creation Science Movement), Portsmouth UK. CSM, originally the Evolution Protest Movement, is the oldest Creation Organisation in the world.

"Monkey Business - The History and Status of Man's Ancestor"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Why does almost every report on the latest "human ancestor fossil" include the sentence: "This causes major rethinking of human ancestry"? No other area of science seems to need to much rewriting with each subsequent discovery. Just how scientific and objective are the conclusions that get reported in museums, textbooks, and popular magazines? Who is this elusive apeman?
The talk reveals how this subject is the perfect opening for talking to Christians and non-Christians alike about Biblical reality, why they can trust the Biblical view of history, and their need for a Savior. From the latest fossil finds to the historical blunders, this talk shows how the misinterpretation of Genesis has had a domino effect leading even Christians to accept outrageous "ape-fool-ary" which undermines the Christian faith.

"Mad Cow Disease (Human Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease): Can ducks and venison turn my brain into a sponge?"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
This devastating disease, which destroys the brain, is caused by the abnormal folding of a protein. It is a perfect example of the incredible complexity of life and why random changes cannot improve it. If we have trouble refolding a map, how can time and chance perform the intricate folding necessary for the three dimensional structure and function of this relatively small protein. And it is only one of at least 30 thousand proteins necessary for life, many of them far more complex.

Jill Whitlock
We have been informed of the sudden death of Jill Whitlock on December 29, 2007 at age 57 in Ft. Meyers Florida.
She was an author, home educator and speaker on creation topics. Jill was the first female geologist in Denver and the third ever trained at Texas A & M University. A former evolutionary geologist, she had for the past 18 years applied her expertise in studying, compiling and communicating information on Creation Science. She home schooled her own children and providied excellent resources for other home schoolers including the website Media Angels.) She served on the staff of Creation Studies Institute, www.creationstudies.org headed by Tom DeRosa and affiliated with James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was co-author of Creation teaching books on Science, Astronomy, Anatomy, Geology and more.
Jill Whitlock originally believed that evolution was the way life and the world began. She was trained as an evolutionist and worked as a geologist for 10 years after graduating from Texas A & M University. She worked as a Chief Well Log Analyst for the Rocky Mountain Region and as Senior Staff Exploration Geologist for an oil company in Denver, Colorado. Jill accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior in December 1983 and began praying and studying about the creation vs evolution question. The Lord was faithful and brought many people into her path who started her on the way to becoming a Flood Geologist and a young earth Creationist. She will be greatly missed but the materials she produced will be a lasting legacy as she rests in the presence of her Creator.

"Darwin's 'Evolution Revolution': Its Impact on
Science, Education, Crime/Punishment, Poverty, Business, and Life & Death Issues"
Christ Presbyterian Church, Room 204, Edina, Minnesota (At Highway 100 and 70th St.)
Cost $15; Register by calling 612.789.8811, ext. 204 or email mary{at}mfc.org.
The Darwininian worldview has impacted critical areas of life, including education, politics, and the study of science with its "evolving" standards of right and wrong, an "evolving constitution," and the stifling of free speech. The National Science Education Standards and the Benchmarks for Science Literacy from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) require teaching evolution as "a unifying concept for science." What is the impact of stifling genuine academic and scientific criticism of Darwin in the classroom and in the fields of science, history, civics, geography, and sex education?
Dr. John G. West is a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute and associate director of the institute's Center for Science and Culture. Formerly the chairman of the Department of Political Science and Geography at Seattle Pacific University, West holds a Ph.D. in government from Claremont Graduate University and is the author or editor of several books, including Darwin's Conservatives: The Misguided Quest and The Politics of Revelation and Reason. He has been interviewed frequently by the national media, including Time, Newsweek, and the New York Times, and has appeared on CNN, Fox News, and C-SPAN.
Dr. West is regularly interviewed by the newsmedia on science education policy issues involving evolution and intelligent design, and his comments have been featured in such publications as Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, and the Associated Press. He has also appeared on Fox News, CNN, and C-SPAN, and his articles have been published by USA Today, The Dallas Morning News, The Indianapolis Star, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, National Review Online, FoxNews.com, Policy Review, and many other publications.

"Revealing the Fingerprints of God in Creation and History"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Evidence for the existence of God can be seen in the natural world and in history. Can these be persuasive to the professional community? Are they of any help to lead unbelievers to consider faith in Jesus Christ? The focus of this presentation is on a strategy for integrating these fingerprints of God in the service of evangelism.
Dr. Bierle holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in the life sciences and an M.A. in New Testament Studies. An academic dean and college professor for nearly 25 years, he is skilled at communicating complex subjects in a clear, original, and fascinating way.

Dave and Mary Jo Nutting
Alpha Omega Institute
Description of Presentations:
Oct 30: Blind Chance or Intelligent Design? Was Darwin Wrong? (Dave & Mary Jo
Nutting)
Smith Hall 331 (U of M) @ 7:00pm
Are the traditional "proofs" of evolution really evidence of time, chance, and natural processes, or is there a better explanation? Former evolutionary college instructors examine the evidence and show why they switched. This beautifully illustrated program helps you ask the right questions and not be taken in by "accepted" scientific dogma. A time of Q and A will follow the presentation.
Oct 31: It's a War Out There! Fossils, Strata, and Worldviews (Dave Nutting) Maranatha Christian Church - 315 10th Ave. SE. Mminneapolis 55414 at 7:00pm
There is a battle of worldviews raging in this country and these ideas have consequences. In this lively, fully-illustrated presentation, a former evolutionist shows why he believes the fossils present devastating evidence against evolution. He teaches participants how to ask the right questions, identify underlying assumptions, and recognize the logical implications of their beliefs. A time of Q & A will follow the presentation.
Nov 1: It's About Time! -- A Creationist View of Geology and Time (Dave Nutting) Smith Hall 331 (University of Minnesota) at 7:00pm
Are those rocks really that old? Join geologist, Dave Nutting, as he leads you on a virtual field trip through the American west and other parts of the world.
Enjoy fantastic scenery while gaining insight into the story behind the rocks.
Dave will share from research and field study how deep canyons, giant ripple marks, massive gravel deposits, enormous "now dry" waterfalls, and other fascinating features all point to catastrophic floods in the not-so-distant past. After this visual tour, you will see geology and traditional age-dating methods through different eyes! This entertaining, fast-paced, and informative presentation is Dave's "hot button." A time of Q & A will follow the presentation.
Nov 2: Dinosaurs and the Bible ? Jurassic Park or Genesis Ark? (Dave Nutting) Smith Hall 331 (University of Minnesota) at 7:00pm
Ancient artwork and artifacts from around the world depict creatures that look like dinosaurs. Did these ancient artists base their artwork on dinosaurs they had actually seen? Join "Dinosaur Dave" Nutting as he paints a new view of dinosaurs -- one usually not taught in museums, schools, or books. Using vivid color visuals, Dave presents the evidence and a view of dinosaurs that is actually consistent with the Bible. Bring your skeptical friends!
Nov 3: Stand Firm and Advance
Maranatha Christian Church - 315 10th Ave. SE. Mpls. 55414 @ 7:00pm
The evidence is on the side of the Christian. So what are you going to do with it? Scripture tells us to "not be taken captive by philosophy," to "stand firm," and to "be ready to make a defense." We need to pay close attention to theses passages, however, the Bible also encourages us to go on the offensive, ie to take ground. Using many high quality visuals and drawing on lessons from nature, and his experiences as a creation speaker for more than 25 years, Dave gives insights into how to proceed so that the "Gates of Hell shall not prevail."
Speaker Bios (Dave and Mary Jo Nutting)
Dave Nutting is the co-founder and director of Alpha Omega Institute. AOI is an organization with a mission to teach the evidence of creation and its relevance throughout the world. Dave has been giving creation seminars at churches, universities, public and private schools for over 20 years. Dave is a former evolutionist who "evolved" into a creationist after studying the scientific issues. Before establishing AOI, Dave taught in high schools and several colleges including Mesa State College and Sheldon Jackson College. Dave holds advanced degrees in mathematics and in geology. His presentations are noted for quality visuals and for his practical, easy to follow, approach.
Mary Jo Nutting is the co-founder and assistant director of Alpha Omega Institute. Together with her husband, Dave, she has traveled and taught creation for over 20 years. Mary Jo has an M.S. degree in biology, with a heavy concentration in science education. She has taught at the high school and college level and is an excellent communicator.

 Jerry Roth
I was informed on September 23 by phone from Jerry Roth's son that Jerry died in a plane crash in McMinn County, Tennessee. Jerry is a former president and board member of TCCSA. One of Jerry's hobbies was flying an ultra-light two seat aircraft, a Kolb MK2, which he had built himself. He was alone in the aircraft when it crashed on Saturday, September 22. He was 72.
The FAA preliminary statement indicated a strong possibility that he died before the crash. Witnesses said the plane went straight down. His plane had an emergency parachute in case of problems, and it was not used. Jerry had used it once while living here in Minnesota, and he said it resulted in a nice soft landing.
Pray for his family.

Dr. Lucas writes:
For the PowerPoint presentation I will display my derived universal force law, describe the derivation of the force of gravity from it and show the resulting formulas for gravity with some new terms never previously seen in the scientific literature. Then I will describe the implications of the new theory of gravity including the notion of gravity decay and the new terms. Next I will present a lot of data (expansion of the earth, planets, and moons, Hubble's law, quantizied redshifts, universal decay of redshifts, etc.) that appears to confirm the new theory of decaying gravity and show that the additional new terms are fully supported by astronomical data and lead to the quantization of gravity. Finally I will show the implications of the decay of gravity for global warming, the origin of Noah's flood, the receding of the waters of the flood, the division of the continents, and the future melting of the continents and burning up of the works of man. Also I will point out the origin of rain, clouds, rainbow, smaller animals and plants today compared to preflood, shorter lifespans today compared to preflood, etc.
I have made great progress in my theory of gravity. I can now explain the Tulley-Fisher relationship for the luminosity of spiral galaxies, the observed quantization of the luminosity of spiral galaxies, the velocity of outer stars in spiral galaxies, and the size of spiral galaxies reminiscent of Bode's Law , and the Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) to explain the high outer rotation velocities of spiral galaxies instead of using dark matter and dark energy. The electrodynamic theory of gravity has far outstripped Newton's Universal Theory of Gravitation and Einstein's General Relativity Theory.

If you listen to the news, it sounds like you should sell your snowmobile and winter clothes. You should expect relatives to move in from the west or east coast because the sea is rising. But wait just a moment. What does the Bible say about all this? Is Global Warming the beginning of God's judgment? What does science really say about rising oceans? Is Al Gore right in his movie "Inconvenient Truth?" Russ McGlenn has done extensive research on the issues and will help you sort it out with his colorful, fact based power point presentation.

When we observe anything, we change it on a sub-atomic level - so everything is inseparable thought. If everything is oneness as quantum physics and Buddhism say duality is a myth - and nothing that exists can but be perceived, and perception only occurs in a duality of Newtonian subject-object or dualistic world - everything perceived thus is also a myth to the extent that a tree falling in the wood unobserved does not make a sound just as radio waves passing us unobsererved do not make a sound when we lack the proper observational/receiving tools - so a world unsensed does not exist - so if duality is a myth, all that is perceved does not exist, and our perceiving receiver, the mind - must also therefore not exist - or else it is something other than what we believe it to be, in our dualistic myth of "reality".

When asked to list the evidence for Darwinian evolution, most people--including most biologists--give the same set of examples, because all of them learned biology from the same few textbooks. The most common examples:
*a laboratory flask containing a simulation of the earth's primitive atmosphere, in which electric sparks produce the chemical building-blocks of living cells;
*the evolutionary tree of life, reconstructed from a large and growing body of fossil and molecular evidence;
*similar bone structures in a bat's wing, a porpoise's flipper, a horse's leg, and a human hand that indicate their evolutionary origin in a common ancestor;
*pictures of similarities in early embryos showing that amphibians, reptiles, birds and human beings are all descended from a fish-like animal;
*Archaeopteryx, a fossil bird with teeth in its jaws and claws on its wings, the missing link between ancient reptiles and modern birds;
*peppered moths on tree trunks, showing how camouflage and predatory birds produced the most famous example of evolution by natural selection;
*Darwin's finches on the Galapagos Islands, thirteen separate species that diverged from one when natural selection produced differences in their beaks, and that inspired Darwin to formulate his theory of evolution;
*fruit flies with an extra pair of wings, showing that genetic mutations can provide the raw materials for evolution;
*a branching-tree pattern of horse fossils that refutes the old-fashioned idea that evolution was directed; and
*drawings of ape-like creatures evolving into humans, showing that we are just animals and that our existence is merely a by-product of purposeless natural causes.
These examples are so frequently used as evidence for Darwin's theory that most of them have been called "icons" of evolution. Yet all of them, in one way or another, misrepresent the truth.

In 1980, while managing a corporate computer center in downtown Los Angeles, Tom Vail took a vacation that would prove to be a turning point in his life - a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon.
Two years later he left the corporate world behind and became a career rafting guide. Tom has worked as a commercial guide since then and as a part-time guide for the Grand Canyon National Park Service. He is a past elected member of the board of directors for Grand Canyon River Guides.
Tom's time in the Canyon would not only lead to a career he loves, it also brought about a spiritual change in his life. In 1994, Tom became a Christian and the following year, he and his wife Paula started Canyon Ministries, which offers Christ-centered rafting trips through the Grand Canyon. Besides their own trips, they run Canyon tours for both Answers in Genesis and Institute for Creation Research, the two largest creation science ministries in the country. Tom and His wife Paula live in Phoenix, AZ.
In his book, Grand Canyon: A Different View, Tom combines the stunning photography of fellow Canyon guide Charly Heavenrich with the compelling commentaries of some of the leading creation science writers, researchers, and theologians of our time. The Canyon is shown from the largest geological wonders to the smallest flora, all intricate parts of God's hand at work. Join us as he shares with you how the Grand Canyon provides evidence for a global Flood and is a living testimony to God's word - all part of an important Biblical message.
Tom Vail's book on the Grand Canyon, Grand Canyon: A Different View, ignited a firestorm of controversy, resulting in stories in many national news outlets, including the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, NBC Nightly News, the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angles Times, The Chicago Tribune, National Public Radio, the 700 Club and National Geographic.
The author, a 25-year veteran Grand Canyon river guide, will speak on the controversy, the Biblical message of the Grand Canyon, and how his view of the Canyon changed after becoming a Christian. Learn how the Grand Canyon supports Scripture.
Background of the Controversy
Grand Canyon: A Different View features essays from 23 contributors, including 17 scientists, 14 of whom hold PhDs in their respective fields, as well as creationist researchers and theologians. It presents a 'young earth,' creationist perspective on the origins of the canyon. The book, which was compiled by Vail, recounts the changing of his own beliefs about the canyon's origins. The book came under fire from seven of the major "science" organizations for around the country who say the book should be removed from the bookstores at Grand Canyon National Park.
For additional information see
www.CanyonMinistries.com
You've read about him in the NY Times... you've see him on a recent National Geographic special... you may have even "run the river" with him. Now, meet and hear best-selling author and Grand Canyon river guide Tom Vail, live and in person!
Tom has been guiding trips thru the Grand Canyon for over two decades. In 1996 Tom became a Christian and his entire worldview changed... from that of seeing the canyon as a result of millions of years of evolutionary geology to one of looking at it thru 'God's eyes'... the result of Noah's worldwide flood and God's judgment on a fallen world. In 2003 Tom wrote the book Grand Canyon a different view which quickly rose to prominence in the national park's bookstores.

One Saturday in 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made final repairs and adjustments to their aircraft. This was the culmination of four years' work by the brothers. Next morning, the aircraft was ready and wind conditions were perfect, but there would be no flight that day. It was Sunday - the Lord's day -- and neither Wilbur nor Orville worked on the Lord's day.
Finally, on Thursday, December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville achieved their goal - the world's first powered flight. Orville flew the Wright Flyer a distance of 37 meters (120 feet) staying aloft for 12 seconds, Later the same day Wilbur flew about 260 meters (852 feet) in a flight lasting 59 seconds.
Wilbur and Orville had both received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour during their youth. Throughout their own lives, they refused to work on the Lord's day, and they did not drink, smoke or gamble. The level of co-operation between Wilbur and Orville was truly remarkable, even during their somewhat loud debates over possible solutions to problems. They remained cheerful while experiencing danger and physical hardship. They were not dependent on praise and recognition for their motivation, and when fame and fortune finally came, they retained their humility.
The Christian character displayed by the Wright brothers was evident to those around them. Co-founder of the Rolls Royce Motor Company, C. S. Rolls, gave the following description of Wilbur and Orville:
"They have lived through continual accusations of bluff; through disbelief and ridicule and have been unaffected. Now they have seen the sudden turn of popular opinion and have sprung to fame; but they are still equally pursuing their daily work with their own hands in their own quiet way."
And what was their father's explanation for these enviable characteristics displayed by Wilbur and Orville?
"He never tired of relating the positive effect that the Bible had on his children."
The Wright brothers used intelligence, experience, and ingenuity to design their aircraft. They allowed chance to play no part. From studying God's creation in the form of bird flight, they were helped to develop their own creation of a better aircraft. If we marvel at how great their achievement was, how much more should we give glory to the Creator who designed flight in the first place.

"IT'S A YOUNG WORLD AFTER ALL: The radioisotope evidence for a young earth"
NOTE ROOM CHANGE Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
A number of recent findings cast grave doubts on conventional uniformitarian geology.
--Measurable Carbon 14 in coal, oil, and fossils thought to be tens to hundreds of millions of years old (and should therefore have no measurable Carbon 14).
--The residual Helium content determinations found in rocks with that exhibit radioactive decay (and should have long ago diffused out of the rocks).
--The pleochroic halos radioactivity evidence.
This presentation is designed for general audiences. However, he is very capable of fielding the technical questions, since he is involved in part of the actual research and as a member of the RATE team.
Have Nuclear Decay Rates Been Invariant Throughout Earth History?
--What Some New Observations Indicate
John Baumgardner
Los Alamos National Laboratory, retired
Abstract: That nuclear decay rates have remained invariant throughout the history of our Earth and solar system is taken for granted and is a key assumption that allows radioisotope dating methods to provide what are understood to be absolute ages, usually within small levels of uncertainty. In this talk I will review some new evidence that calls this assumption into question. The first line of evidence involves the retention levels of radiogenic helium in zircon crystals in granite. In brief, we find that up to 80% of the helium generated by 1.5 billion years worth of 238U decay (at presently measured decay rates)-as attested by the level of radiogenic 206Pb lead-is still contained in these zircons. The rate of helium diffusion in zircon constrains the elapsed time since the bulk of this helium was generated to be dramatically less than 1.5 billion years. A second line of evidence is the discovery that mature Po radiohalos are relatively common in Phanerozoic-age granites. The final three alpha decay steps in the series from 238U to 206Pb involve isotopes of Po. The half-lives of these three Po isotopes are extremely short-3 minutes, 64 s, and 138 days. To generate sufficient concentrations of Po to produce mature Po halos there had to be an extreme rate of Po production, presumably through the decay of nearby 238U. These Po halos have no central zircon or other 238U-bearing inclusion and none of the rings from the 238U series Po precursors. A third line of evidence is the ubiquitous presence of 14C in coal and other fossil organic materials from deep within the Phanerozoic record and also its apparent presence in natural diamonds. Given the brief lifetime of 14C, whatever the means this 14C came to exist within these materials, it must have occurred recently. These three lines of evidence appear to be consistent with the conjecture that rates of nuclear decay processes have been accelerated during one or more episodes in the past.
Dr. John Baumgardner is currently a geophysics professor at the ICR Graduate School and Director of the ICR Scientific Corporate Center. He obtained his PhD in geophysics at UCLA. He served as a staff scientist in the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory for 20 years. He was an early advocate for the concept of catastrophic plate tectonics and chief developer of the TERRA program for computer modeling of the dynamics of the earth's mantle. John was a member of the RATE team and led the project that verified the presence of Carbon 14 in coal and discovered C-14 in diamonds.

"How Smart Was Adam? (Could Evolution produce A Genius?)"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota

In the phenomenon of the "Idiot Savant," persons who are retarded, autistic or otherwise mentally disabled, there occasionally are seen flashes of incredible mental ability. Does this give us a glimpse into the overall intelligence of Adam and Eve and their early descendants,
before the deterioration initiated by sin eroded the genetics of all living creatures? Evolution is unable to explain what has been termed "overdesign" of the brain. Although these exceptional abilities enrich human life, they do not enhance survival.

"Explosive Evidence for Creation: Mount St. Helens,"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Geology and the assumption of an ancient age for the earth have been used as a wedge to cast doubt on God's Word for over 200 years. Many believe Mt. St. Helens was God's wake-up call to the geological and compromising Christian communities. This highly visual presentation shows the results of the type of earth reshaping forces which were happening during and subsequent to the worldwide flood. Although the significance of Mt. St. Helens is well known to creationists, the majority of Christians do not have a clue how powerfully this event shatters the assumptions of evolution. If you know pastors, Christian friends, or non-believers who do not comprehend the significance of creation to Christianity, this is an unforgettable presentation you WILL want to encourage them to attend.
Bruce Malone is an ambassador speaker for the Institute for Creation Research with 25 years experiance as a research leader at Dow Chemical. This will be the third consecutive year he has brought highly visual and engaging presentations to TCCSA.

A panel of University of Minnesota researchers discusses the science of evolutionary biology and the history of America's cultural response to teaching evolution.

Note the key words: "science" opposing "culture" instead of politically-correct science vs "forbidden" science. But the concept of "Cafe Scientifique" out of Great Britain is based on this statement: "Cafe Scientifique is a forum for debating science issues, not a shop window for science. We are committed to promoting public engagement
with science and to making science accountable." Bell Museum is an offical "Cafe Scientifique."
However, since the advertised program includes Dr. P. Z. Myers of University of Minnesota Morris, who has said that those teaching anything other than evolution should be "fired and publicly humiliated" it is doubtful that there will be open discussion.

Dr. Bruce Simat, Biology Professor, Northwestern College
"Censorship in the Land of Oz: Are We In Kansas Anymore?"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
The Great State of Kansas is no stranger to controversy. It became a flashpoint for the battle over slavery 150 years ago. The conflict then included not only words and concepts, but dirty tricks and violence by outside agitators. Freedom for the slaves did not come without hardship, sacrifice and ultimately a bloody war. Those who oppose truth do not relinquish their power quietly or willingly.
Dr. Simat was among the team of scientists who went to Kansas in May of 2005, opposing the Kansas evolution teaching guidelines. The team strategically never mentioned Intelligent Design but simply asked that evidence contrary to evolution be presented to students. This means that they were calling for true education as opposed to indoctrination. The opposition, called "Kansas Citizens for Science," responded by attacking the credibility of the speakers, claiming that they were not scientific and misrepresenting the issues. They then proceeded with backroom political manipulation to replace the elected school board with those sympathetic to evolution.
This issue had previously come up in 2002 at which time there was a world-wide outcry from the scientific-academic establishment, claiming that unsophisticated backwoods mentally deficient religious bigots in the US heartland were about to plunge us all into another dark ages. They predicted school takeovers by flat earth societies and witch hunts. Ironically, the evolutionists are the ones doing their own version of witch hunts.
Dr Bruce Simet has a Masters and PhD from the University of Minnesota in Biochemistry and Physiology. He worked for the US Government Research Center at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis and then for Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. He has also done research for Kallestad Laboratories and Sanfoni Diagnostics Pasteur before accepting the position of Associate Professor of Biology at Northwestern College.

Common Sense Science is a body of theory regarding matter and forces that describes physical reality using geometric models, absolute time and Galilean space in a way that is
consistent with experimental observations and free of internal contradictions. The foundational principles of CSS theory are based upon the law of cause and effect and the assertion that the universe and natural phenomena are fundamentally electrical in character. These principles have led to the development of more accurate physical models for elementary particles, nuclei, atoms and molecules, and the derivation of a new universal force law that applies on all scales ranging from the sub-atomic to the cosmic domain.

Not Even Wrong: The Failure of String Theory
Lecture and Book Signing
West Bank Auditorium, Willey Hall, 225 19th Ave S, Minneapolis
Author Peter Woit discussed his new book Not Even Wrong: The Failure of String Theory and the Search for Unity in Physical Law. Book description: Woit presents the other side of the growing debate on string theory -- arguing that it's not even science. The theory resembles something more like aesthetic speculation, or even theology. Physicist Wolfgang Pauli described such ideas as "not even wrong" -- they were so incomplete they could not even be used to make predictions to compare with observations to see whether they were wrong or not. In Woit's view, superstring theory is just such an idea. It makes no predictions, even wrong ones, and this very lack of falsifiability is what has allowed the subject to survive and flourish. Mathematical conditions for progress in physics are entirely absent from superstring theory. Judgments about scientific statements, which should be based on logical consistency of argument and experimental evidence, are instead based on personalities who claim to know the truth.
See the website of Campus Atheists and Secular Humanists where it states, "String Theory is a prevailing theory about the structure of the universe. On its face, it appears highly scientific. Dr. Peter Woit, Professor of Mathematics at Columbia University, joins us to explain how unscientific it actually is. As skeptics, we must remember to remain skeptical about all claims, not just religious ones, for their scientific integrity. Dr. Woit will also be selling copies of his latest book entitled Not Even Wrong: The Failure of String Theory And the Search for Unity in Physical Law, courtesy of the University Bookstore."

Dr. Kevin Anderson of Creation Research Society
"God Doesn't Make Junk (DNA)"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Evolutionists claim that much of the human genome is useless "junk" left over from millions of years of evolution. However, recent research strongly challenges this view, and instead reveals a genome designed with an amazing ability for adaptation and versatility. Evolutionists also claim that the similarity of the human and primate genomes proves they have a common evolutionary lineage, but a careful evaluation of the respective genomes reveals several flaws in this claim.
Kevin Anderson obtained his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in microbiology. He was then a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois, and later a professor of microbiology at Mississippi State University. As a professor, he taught graduate level molecular genetics classes and served as the major professor for several doctoral and masters students. He later served as a research microbiologist for the United States Department of Agriculture before accepting his current position as Director of the Van Andel Creation Research Center (Chino Valley, AZ). Dr. Anderson has published numerous papers in technical microbiology and genetics journals, has given presentations at many national and international scientific meetings, and is listed in several "Who's Who"of science and technology. He is also currently the editor-in-chief of the Creation Research Society Quarterly.

Kevin Anderson of Creation Research Society
"A Creationist Understanding of the Genome"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116
Evolutionists claim that recent genomic research provides strong evidence of evolution. Creation geneticists strongly disagree, and for good reason. Rather than being the product of millions of years of evolutionary change, there is much evidence indicating the genome is young. Also, rather than the genome showing poor design and unnecessary redundancy, it shows an unparallel level of technological sophistication. A creationist view of origins continues to be strongly supported by current genetics research.

SYNOPSIS
For centuries scientists and philosophers have marveled at an eerie coincidence. Mathematics, a creation of human reason, can predict the nature of the universe, a fact physicist Eugene Wigner referred to as the "unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics in the physical sciences." In the last three decades astronomers and cosmologists have noticed another, seemingly unrelated, mystery. Contrary to all expectations, the laws of physics seem precisely "fine-tuned" for the existence of complex life.
Could these two wonders actually be isolated pieces of a wider pattern? Both are prerequisites for science, yet what about the process of scientific discovery itself? What are its necessary conditions? Why is it even possible? Read any book on the history of science, and you'll learn about magnificent tales of human ingenuity, persistence, and dumb luck. But that's only part of the story, and not even the most important part. Our location is much more critical to science than it is to real estate. For some reason our Earthly location is extraordinarily well suited to allow us to peer into the heavens and discover its secrets.
Elsewhere, you might learn that Earth and its local environment provide a delicate, and probably exceedingly rare, cradle for complex life. But there's another, even more startling, fact, described in The Privileged Planet: those same rare conditions that produce a habitable planet-that allow for the existence of complex observers like ourselves-also provide the best overall place for observing. What does this mean? At the least, it turns our view of the universe inside out. The universe is not "pointless" (Steven Weinberg), Earth merely "a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark," (Carl Sagan) and human existence "just a more-or-less farcical outcome of a chain of accidents" (Steven Weinberg). On the contrary, the evidence we can uncover from our Earthly home points to a universe that is designed for life, and designed for discovery.

"The Exodus Giants: The Archaeological Evidence"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116 (the room on the right of the main auditorium)
There are several Execration Texts from the Middle Kingdom Period of Egypt that mention the Anakim giants, who are also mentioned in the Old Testament as living in Canaan at the time of the Israelite Exodus. There is also a passage in Papyrus Anastasi I from the New Kingdom Period, which refers to these same giants in the land of Canaan and gives their size. I will compare these Egyptian texts with the information found on the Anakim giants in the Old Testament. I will also be looking at what the Bible says about the giant Goliath whom David slew, since he was an Anakim giant who joined the Philistines. A name much like that of Goliath was recently found written on an ostracon [pottery sherd with writing on it] from the ancient city of Gath.

She is now on the staff of Creation Studies Institute, www.creationstudies.org headed by Tom DeRosa and affiliated with James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Co-author of Creation teaching books on Science, Astronomy, Anatomy, Geology and more, she is also a dynamic speaker who reaches all ages. Women and youth especially will enjoy as she shares her experiences and vast knowledge.
Jill Whitlock believed that evolution was the way life and the world began. She was trained as an evolutionist and worked as a geologist for 10 years after graduating from Texas A & M University. She worked as a Chief Well Log Analyst for the Rocky Mountain Region and as Senior Staff Exploration Geologist for an oil company in Denver, Colorado. Jill accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior in Dec. 1983 and began praying and studying about the creation vs. evolution question. The Lord was faithful and brought many people into her path who started her on the way to becoming a Flood Geologist and a young earth Creationist. Jill has spent over 12 years studying and compiling information on Creation Science and is available for seminars.

Egyptologist Dr. Charles Aling
"The Archaeological Evidence for Joseph"
Presented by Christian Apologetics Ministry
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota, Youderian Lounge
Dr. Charles Aling, Professor of History at Northwestern College for the past sixteen years, earned his Ph.D. in Ancient History and Egyptology from the University of Minnesota. In addition to his tenure in the classroom, Dr. Aling has been Assistant Field Director on two archaeological expeditions to the Valley of the Kings in Egypt - discovering mummies and lost treasures from the times of the Pharaohs!
Did the Biblical Joseph really live in Egypt, rising from slavery to high office in the Egyptian government? If so, when was this and how does his career fit into Egyptian history as we know it today? While the name of Joseph has never been found in any Egyptian texts, there is much authentic Egyptian coloring in the Joseph Story in Genesis. We shall place Joseph into Egyptian history, examining and correlating biblical passages with recent archaeological discoveries, with what is known of Egyptian titles, and with slavery customs during the time he would have been in Egypt.

"Creation Philosophy and Evangelism"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota Nazareth Hall Chapel -- Note the change
Is the creation message a distraction or a foundation?
Why does it matter if we believe in Creation or not? If most American's have already heard the Christmas story and the basic Gospel message, why aren't the churches filled? Is the Bible really the Word of God or is it just a good book written by good men? Why are so many people angry with God? This presentation will answer these questions and more as we focus on the Biblical example of evangelism and explore reasons why most Christians do not share their faith boldly and clearly today. You will leave with practical tools that will help you to know how to evangelize in a non-threatening but effective way. By using Creation and the Biblical law as a solid foundation, hearts and minds will be opened to both scientific and spiritual Truth.

"Ethics and Animals"
HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COLLOQUIUM
Cosponsored by the Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science and Deptment of Philosophy
University of Minnesota, Ted Mann Concert Hall, on the West Bank
Dr. Singer writes:
Thirty years ago, in Animal Liberation, I argued for the
then-novel view that we owe nonhuman animals equal consideration of
their interests, and that to give them less is speciesism, a
prejudice as objectionable as racism and sexism. I also argued that
the implications of this position are that we should cease to eat
animals, and that our use of them for research should be, at least,
very drastically curtailed and controlled. After 30 years of debate
about this proposal among philosophers, is there any kind of
consensus about the moral status of animals?
I shall argue that there is a substantial degree of consensus, if
not complete unanimity, that pure speciesism is ethically
indefensible. There is, however, more controversy about the moral
significance of features like autonomy, rationality and
self-awareness, the boundaries of which run substantially, but not
entirely, parallel to the boundaries of our species. At the
practical level, there is again widespread agreement that factory
farming, and research that involves significant animal suffering
without a realistic prospect of major benefits for humans or
animals, are wrong. There is, however, no agreement on the eating of
humanely raised animals, or on less objectionable forms of research.

An Energy Revolution for the 21st Century
PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY COLLOQUIUM
University of Minnesota, Room 131 Physics Building
Refreshments served in Room 216 Physics at 3:30 p.m.
Global warming has exacerbated the need for a radical transformation of global energy systems away from fossil fuels. Given the large, but environmentally problematic, resources of coal, a revolutionary energy transition might be deferred to the 22nd Century, or later. However, the well-known impacts, like the sea surface temperature and the sea level rising and the shrinking glaciers were all predicted decades ago by climate scientists as a result of increasing human inputs of greenhouse gases, primarily CO2 from fossil fuel burning.
If 2005 was warmest year on record (and likely the warmest in the last 100,000 years), what awaits us as CO2 continues it's inexorable rise? Uncertainty regarding future warming is mainly associated with cloud radiative feedback, but the recently observed global warming is sufficiently close to the high end of the predicted range to warrant prompt action. The question is: What to do to prevent a warming in excess of 2 Degrees C, above which it may become impossible to prevent the disintegration of the Greenland Ice Sheet, and later the West Antarctic Ice sheet as global GDP continues to grow 2-3%/yr.
It will be necessary to generate 100-300% of all primary energy from non-CO2 emitting sources by mid-century. This is an enormous, but I believe doable, task. The long-term goal of a sustainable global energy system capable of supporting high-tech civilization with a minimum adverse impact on the climate and the ecosystem needs to be aggressively explored now. Accomplishing this energy transformation, as the world economy grows by a factor of five by mid-century, may be greatest challenge to applied science in history.

"The Exodus -- New Evidence For the Biblical Date"
Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota Totino Fine Arts Center, Room 116 (the room on the right of the main auditorium)
Dr. Aling specializes in ancient history, particularly Egypt and the Middle East. He is known throughout the U.S. as a foremost expert on Biblical archaeology. He served as assistant field director on two archaeological expeditions in Egypt -- one that dug a royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings, the other which copied inscriptions at the Karnak Temple in Luxor, Egypt. Dr. Aling served as visiting professor with the Liberty University Oxford Study Program in Oxford, England. He has toured Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands, and has led Northwestern College study tours to England and Scotland.
The date of the exodus is one area of archeological research that has great significance for the reliability of the Bible. Dr Aling is a careful scholar who also has a high view of the Scripture and has come up with some astounding facts.

Even many people who believe in Intelligent Design feel that the evidence for an ancient earth is so strong that they have no recourse but to accept it. Yet there are major problems with the dating methods, including unwarranted assumptions. In addition, a lot of selection and adjustment of data is taking place behind the scenes that gives an illusion of congruence. There is a powerful case for a young earth that fits the Biblical chronology and explains the geologic data far better than the standard chronology.
There are many clues that common dating methods give erronious values.
Among them:
A World War II airplane is about 1,000 years old
according to Evolutionists?????
Radio Halo's had to form in less than 1/5th of a
second?????
If the fire is still smoldering, it's less than 6

The Antithesis of Intelligent Design; or, why reality is
actually about Dumb Accidents
PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY COLLOQUIUM
University of Minnesota, Room 131 Physics Building
Refreshments served in Room 216 Physics at 3:30 p.m.
P.Z.Meyers says the following:
Proponents of Intelligent Design creationism (IDC) have been
making claims that their ideas represent a valid form of science. A
review of their arguments shows, though, that they rely on argument
by inappropriate analogy, in which a statement that something "looks
like" an artifact is sufficient; the argument from the impossibility
of complexity, which makes the unjustifiable leap that complexity
can only arise from intent; inappropriate claims that the
irreducibility of pathways implies their assembly could not have
been sequential; and sweeping misrepresentations of the state of
evolutionary research.
In this colloquium, I'll review a sampling of the evidence from
biology that invalidates many of their claims, and demonstrate the
anti-scientific, anti-intellectual foundation of the IDC movement.
While many of the metaphysical claims of creationists cannot be
addressed, the status of evolutionary biology as an explanatory
framework is unchallenged by any of the complaints of Intelligent
Design advocates.

DEEP IMPACT - A Probe of Comet Structure and Origins
Charles Woodward, University of Minnesota
Refreshments served in Room 216 Physics at 3:30 p.m.
Comets are composed of ices, gases, and dust extant at the epoch
of planet formation. The distant activity (greater 7 AU) of comets
implies they contain CO ice from the outer solar nebula where
temperatures remained lower than 50 K. In contrast, many long-period
Oort cloud comets and a few short-period Jupiter-family comets
contain crystalline silicates that formed in the protosolar nebula
at temperatures greater than 1000 K. Thus, remote sensing and in
situ observations of cometary grains properties provides insight
into the thermal processing and radial transport of dust and
materials during the epoch of planet formation within the solar
system. On 3 July 2005 (20:10 HST), the NASA DEEP IMPACT probe
encountered the Jupiter Family comet 9P/Tempel 1. The spectacular
collision event resulted in the release pristine materials from the
interior of the comet nucleus, provided our first high spatial
resolution imagery of cometary surfaces, and enabled study of
cometary structure and physical properties (e.g., bulk density,
tensile strength). This talk will review results of the DEEP IMPACT
event and, in particular, highlight new insights into cometary dust
composition derived from time-series mid-infrared spectrophotometry
obtained on the Gemini-North (Mauna Kea, HI) 8-m telescope, as part
of a broad international campaign. Further discussion of the DEEP
IMPACT mission and initial scientific reports are published in the
2005 October 16 issue Science.

In several parts of western United States and in other areas of this world, there are erosional features and related deposits of debris which speak loudly of massive discharges of water. These include canyons 20 miles long, 6 miles wide, and many hundreds of feet thick. Debris consists of rolling hills and massive gravel bars high above the surrounding terrain. Much of the debris are boulders the size of automobiles and larger. These features support Noah's Flood and the aftermaths of that Flood. Geologist, Dave Nutting, takes you on a visual tour of some of these sites so that we can apply this knowledge to other locations including our own backyard. You may never go on a trip again without seeing the countryside in a different light!

Dave has been giving creation seminars at churches, universities, public and private schools for more than 20 years. His audiences range from young children to groups of medical students and doctors. Dave is a former evolutionist who "evolved" into a creationist after studying the scientific issues. Before establishing AOI, Dave taught in high schools and several colleges including Colorado State University, Mesa State College and Sheldon Jackson College. Dave holds degrees in mathematics and in geology. His presentations are noted for quality visuals and are easy to understand even for children.

"Alpha and Omega Institute was founded in 1984 by Dave and Mary Jo Nutting after they both 'evolved' from evolutionary college instructors to creationists. Since then, AOI has presented the Biblical and scientific evidence of creation to churches, camps, schools, and universities in the US and abroad.
AOI's children's ministry began in 1992 under Lanny and Marilyn Johnson. These programs reinforce the truth of creation while entertaining both children and adults."

Come for a fun night of examining "hard hitting questions" about the Ark. - Would the boat float? - What's the scoop on the Ark poop? - Didn't it stink on the Ark? - How could 8 people care for all those animals? Through a Q and A presentation, Julie will examine the feasibility of the Ark. This lecture, geared for all ages, is based on the book Noah's Ark: A Feasibility Study by John Woodmorappe
Julie Von Vett is a teacher at The Academy (sponsored by YEAH), a science teacher at several home school coops, home schooled her own children through high school and is a member of the Board of TCCSA. Her formal education began with a BA in psychology and religion.

Randall Hedtke, a retired biology teacher (who has suffered persecution in defense of the truth) will explain how to teach evolution as theory rather than doctrine. He will attempt to dispel all of the well-cultivated illusions regarding the question of origins in the biology curriculum. Consider the following: Charles Darwin deliberately rejected scientific objectivity in the Introduction to the Origin of Species. The issue is not between science and religion, but first and foremost between legitimate science and Darwinian pseudoscience. Professionally speaking, educators cannot teach evolution the way evolution proponents would have it taught. Evolution is not a secular explanation for origins; it is a doctrine of Religious Humanism, which explains its departure from legitimate science. Vital information unfavorable to evolution in the last edition of the Origin, the incipiency problem, continues to be withheld from students. Academic honesty dictates a revelation of that information.

Did people once really live over 900 years? Why don't we live to that age now?
Dr. Curtis Writes: "I deal with the ages of people prior to the flood and at least five things that change at the flood that now makes it impossible to live that long. I show pictures of modern attempts in nearly every metro area to closely replicate the pre-flood conditions in hospitals. I understand that there are two such hyperbaric chambers in the Twin Cities. Four of the things that changed are estimates. 1 (the % of oxygen in the atmosphere) we can prove was between 32% & 35% before the flood.
"There are a lot of power point graphics & pictures to make it easy for elementary school children to understand most of what is presented. Some suggest that the years of Gen. 1-9 are really months. If that is true, you will have men begetting children at age 5 or 6. I know there is an ailment that brings about physical maturity about that age but who would be willing to say that all of these men suffered from it?
"I have studied the subject of Evolution & Creation since January of 1967 as a hobby. I have been presenting Seminars on the subject full time now for about 5 years.
"I have 2 advanced academic degrees: 1 in Psychology & 1 in Biblical Archaeology. My understanding of Creationism comes from personal research over 38 years."

Tom Vail
"The Grand Canyon: A Different View"
In his book, Grand Canyon, a different view, Tom combines the stunning photography of fellow Canyon guide Charly Heavenrich with the compelling commentaries of some of the leading creation science writers, researchers, and theologians of our time. The Canyon is shown from the largest geological wonders to the smallest flora, all intricate parts of God's hand at work. Join us as he shares with you how the Grand Canyon provides evidence for a global Flood and is a living testimony to God's word - all part of an important Biblical message.

Isaac Newton: A Dramatic Recreation Of History's Greatest Scientist
As Played By John Nuckols
John Nuckols has an uncanny way of assuming the character of historic figures and taking us beyond the writings to the soul and character of the man. We were amazed at his presentation of Louis Pasteur. Now he takes on the identity of the man considered by many the greatest scientist of all times, who changed the way people looked at nature. What people know very little about, however, was Newton's devout faith and his extensive writings on the Bible and Theology.

Critics try to call it fraud, but the best evidence is that dinosaurs were familiar to the ancient artists. There are even some features of dinosaurs pictured that were not known when the stones were discovered, but are now confirmed to be true. Thus a forger would have had to be smarter than all the world's experts at the time of their production. It is much more likely that they are really ancient and that the live dinosaurs were around at the time.
In 1945 German archeologist, Waldemar Julsrud discovered clay figurines buried at the foot of El Toro Mountain on the outskirts of Acambaro, Guanajuanto, Mexico. Eventually over 37,000 figurines and artifacts were found. They were similar to the artifacts identified with the Pre-classical Chupicuaro Culture (800 B. C. - 200 AD) found in this area. Radiocarbon and thermoluminescent testing has supported these estimates.
The authenticity of the find has been challenged because the collection included dinosaurs. Many archeologists believe dinosaurs have been extinct for the past 65 million years and man's knowledge of them has been limited to the past 200 years. If man saw and modeled them 2500 years ago, this view would be falsified.
Dr. Don R. Patton, together with Dr. Dennis Swift have made five trips to the Acambaro in order to conduct their own personal investigation. The collection has been locked away for years but access was attained. You will hear the intriguing story, evaluate the testimony of many respectable, knowledgeable eye witnesses and view the evidence for yourself.
*This Pruvian Burial Stone came from a cemetery of Ica and Nazca graves (time period 400 to 1,000 AD) located in the Nazca Valley south of Ica, Peru.
Textiles, ceramics and engraved stones were made for mortuary practices, and they were buried with the deceased. Figures show scenes of animals and various human activities.
Designs are carved into the stones. Microscopic analysis reveals that no rotary or power driven tools were used on the stones. (Engraving is similar to modern laser cutting) After engraving, the stone is rubbed with tar to darken it and enhance the design.
Many stones have warriors shown in larger than normal size in comparison to the animals. This is consistent with pre-Columbian pottery of the Moche, Wari and Nazca cultures of Peru.
The bird on top of the man is a rare item in Nazca lore, and it enhances the credibility of the stone.

Walter Lang Went To Be With His Lord
A Tireless Creation Pioneer Is Gone
Saturday, July 10, 2004, Rev. Walter Lang (90), passed away and went to be with our Lord. He is survived by two sons, Robert and Philip. (His wife, Valeria, passed away a few years ago.) There was a memorial service in Seattle on Tuesday, July 13th.
Reverend Lang began serving as a Lutheran pastor in 1940, in a small town in Texas.
In 1963, after raising their two aforementioned sons, Robert and Philip, Rev. Lang resigned from Grace Lutheran Church, in Caldwell, Idaho, in order to assume his duties as the executive officer of the then newly formed: Bible-Science Association (BSA).
The Bible-Science Association began publishing a newsletter, mimeographed at first, and mailed it out to interested creationists across the U.S., and later internationally. The BSA soon began hosting large annual meetings - with the leading creation speakers of the 1960s and 1970s. Rev. Lang was dedicated and instrumental in all of this. He, his wife, and several other helpers kept the BSA running on a daily basis and mailing information out each month. They would often pack boxes of books into the back of a vehicle on a Friday and then commence a long drive across part of middle America to go to churches and civic centers in order to give creation seminars over the weekend. Rev. Lang was never hesitant to drive or fly to locations - literally around the globe.
Rev. Lang later left the BSA and formed the Genesis Institute, and subsequently moved it from Minneapolis to the Seattle area in the early 1990s.
We have lost a great warrior for the Gospel. He has gone on to his reward. He is present with his Savior - even as you are reading this message.
His health had been declining for the past couple of years. He was having problems with his short-term memory. He remained ever polite and gentle, as was his nature. Always ready with calmness and spiritual grace. I last saw him several months ago. But in the past few months his physical strength began to fail as well. He recently contracted pneumonia, and passed away.
Several of Rev. Lang's works are on-line within: http://www.creationism.org/lang/
A biography (with photo) is at: http://www.creationism.org/lang/Lang2DecadesCrtn/index.htm and chapter one of this book (see link above) has an early history of the BSA.
Sincerely, Paul Abramson Berkeley, CA USA www.creationism.org

WHAT CAUSED THE "MASS EXTINCTION" OF THE DINOSAURS?
Al Heitkamp
Modern day consensus in science recognizes that world wide extinction events have occurred in our Earth's history. It is now acknowledged that these events were catastrophic and therefore different from earlier uniformitarian and localized flood concepts and explanations. Dinosaur extinction theories continue to abound, many based on erroneous assumptions. However, a relatively recent age Biblical Creation based approach provides the most feasible answer when examining the actual scientific evidence.
What significance does mass extinctions, conceivably occurring during the Noahic flood, have for our future?
Al Heitkamp has a degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota. He is a 48 year member of the American Chemical Society. His 42 year career was in the paint and coatings industry, with firms including Dupont, Glidden and Cargill. He joined the TCCSA in 1977 and has served on its Board since 1978.

"The Genesis Record In Ancient Chinese Characters"
The Historicity Of Genesis Confirmed By Analysis Of Oldest Continuously Used System Of Writing
Richard Broadberry
(Co-Author of God's Promise to the Chinese)
Totino Fine Arts Center, Rm. 115 (the room on the left of the main auditorium), Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota
For Directions And Maps, Click HERE
Richard Broadberry is the co-author of "God's Promise to the Chinese" and several other books on the connection between the most ancient forms of the Chinese characters and the book of Genesis. He was a missionary to China and Taiwan where he had access to the National Archives and studied the very ancient "bone oracles." He speaks fluent Mandarin as well as beautiful English. He now resides with his wife and adopted Chinese daughter (with another coming soon) in Southampton England.
Ethel Nelson is the primary author and her first books came out about 20 years ago. Many over the
years have noted things like the character for "righteousness" being a lamb over the character for "me," a "ship" being a vessel with 8 persons aboard, among others.
Broadberry also points out that the Emperor would perform an annual animal sacrifice at the Temple of Heaven, humbling himself and asking for forgiveness for himself and his people and that this continued until the Empire ended in the early last century.
All this is powerful evidence that the Chinese ancestors understood the God of the Bible who is thus not a "foreign God". It is likewise a unique confirmation to all people of the historicity of the early chapters of Genesis.

This program is exciting and appropriate for all ages. The unborn baby is a wonderful picture of God's power and love towards us from conception to eternal life. Emphasis will be on the unborn baby before the mother even knows she is pregnant. Most people think that their birthday is the most important day of their life. Yet, before you were born and were a person of 1 trillion cells, day 15 in the womb was the most important day of your life.
Russ will answer why this is true as well as why you are fully human whether you are one cell, a million cells or, when you enter the world at birth, a trillion cells. What is the Matrix? What does it mean to be "Knit together in the Womb?" King David uses a term to describe our creation in the womb 3000 years before it was discovered by science. Russ, is a national Creation Science speaker and leads the Adventure Safaris dinosaur digs in the Dakota Badlands. He uses colorful animated Power Point with explanations easily understood by all audiences. The meeting will be in two parts. The first fifteen minutes will be a report on his dinosaur dig last summer at Lemmon SD and the evidences found for Noah's Flood. The second part will be on the unborn child.

The vast majority of commentators accept one of two views on the subject. 1. Evolution is science; Creation is myth or religion. 2. Both are religion; Neither is science.
Tom will present his position which differs from the other two. Creation is science; Evolution is myth or religion.
To develop his position he will present six scientific hypotheses that have been tested as thoroughly as the laws of motion.

Christopher W. Macosko is a gifted speaker who makes complex topics understandable to all and will show clearly that the blustering of the evolutionists is without merit. He is also internationally recognized for his research in reactive polymer processing - a blend of transport phenomena, chemistry, and materials science. He was among the first researchers in the United States to realize the potential of reaction injection molding. Reactive polymer blending is another major research area for his group. Current research focuses on creating multiphase polymer microstructures via melt blending. He has also been active in developing new rheological test methods and applications and authored the popular text: Rheology, Wiley 1994.
The Macosko Group has produced over 300 publications and been home to nearly 100 Ph.D. and M.S. students. He is also the Director of IPrime, the Industrial Partnership for Research in Interfacial and Materials Engineering at the University of Minnesota. For Dr. Macosko's Curriculum Vitae, Click HERE.

Anti-Evolutionism and Contested Authority in the Natural Sciences
Since 1800
John Lynch, Barrett Honors College, Arizona State University
Physics Bldg Room 131, East Bank, University of Minnesota
For A Map Of The University, Click HERE.
The past one hundred and fifty years have seen naturalistic and often
materialistic modes of inquiry (as advocated by, for example, John Tyndall and
Richard Dawkins) superceding the teleological and theistic methods used by
earlier non-specialists. This "hardening" of the scientific viewpoint, particularly
in the life sciences, is interesting when one considers the concomitant
increase in the acceptability of evolutionary explanations to the general public,
the increase in the popularization of what the emerging specialists saw as
"good science," and (as noted by Michael Ruse) the parallel reduction of
extra-epistemic factors in evolutionary theorizing. The reception of the Christian
'anti-geologists' of the early 19th century and that of Vestiges of the Natural
History of Creation (1844), illustrate how self-definition and boundary work by
the emerging scientific professionals allowed them to distance themselves from
both Biblical literalists and many amateurs, thus moving the adjudication of
scientific claims out of the public sphere. In more recent times, a movement
for "renewal of science and culture," traveling under the banner of
"Intelligent Design" has attempted to return the judgment of scientific theories to the
public arena, while advocating a distinctly anti-naturalistic methodology of
science. In this talk (a work very much in progress), I will discuss the above
in relation to the persistence of anti-evolutionism in American culture.

EUGENE SATTLER : LECTURER ON BIBLICAL CREATION AND THE FLOOD
Eugene Sattler is an experienced and extremely competent educator speaking on an exciting topic. You will turn green when you see how the evolutionary establishment has fooled the public! He served Lutheran schools in Nevada, Texas, Ohio and Wisconsin. He also served as director of Camp LuWiSoMo, Wild Rose, WI for seven years. Since retirement from the classroom he has devoted full time to lecturing on Creation vs. Evolution. His topics cover a wide range of areas in which he has done research.
Eugene Sattler holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois. He has done graduate studies in geology, geography and anthropology at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. He holds membership in the Creation Research Society, and serves on the board of directors of the Genesis Institute and the Chronology-History Research Institute.
Mr. Sattler has traveled extensively throughout Canada, Alaska and the Western states studying geology, fossils and evidence of the Flood. He has lectured for the past 35 years on Creation vs. Evolution and related topics. He stressed the importance of Biblical creation as the foundation for a good education.
He and his wife, Doris, have seven children, 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He has served as a church organist and choir director for most of his professional life. His latest hobby is building scale models of Noah's Ark.
EVOLUTION: THE INCREDIBLE HOAX
Geared toward youth and adults, this program shows that evolution is unscientific. It answers the question, "Why do REAL scientists say NO to evolution?" Evidence is presented for:
A young earth Coexistence of humans and dinosaurs Noah's Ark - size, capacity, construction Search for the Ark, recent sightings The Flood and the demise of the dinosaurs Dinosaur-like creatures alive and well today The pre-flood world of giant animals, plants, humans

This more popular level talk will discuss how Darwin developed his ideas, what factors influenced his thinking, and how his thinking was popularized and subsequently modified to arrive at today's current ideas regarding evolution. This talk will also incorporate some information on stalactite formation and meteor astronomy.
Dr. Kevin Anderson received his Ph.D. in microbiology from Kansas State University. He then became an NIH post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Illinois. Later he was a professor of microbiology at Mississippi State University, and most recently a research microbiologist for the United States Department of Agriculture. He has published over 20 research papers in technical journals, and has given technical talks at numerous scientific conferences. He is also the current editor-in-chief of the Creation Research Society Quarterly (the society's technical journal). His primary area of research has been the molecular analysis of bacterial interactions and molecular genetics. With this background, he has been a leading advocate that recent genetic discoveries (such as the human genome project) are not consistent with the claims of evolutionists (regardless of all the media hype), and, in fact, provide outstanding evidence for creation.

This talk will deal mostly with the biological aspects of evolution, particularly at the cellular level and will cover aspects of why speciation actually fits well within a creation model, why antibiotic resistance in bacteria is not a true example of evolutionary change and why mutations cannot drive evolutionary change. It will also show the total lack of genetic evidence that evolutionary change has ever occurred and why the human genome project has become a gold mine for creationists.

Meeting in the Chapel, on the main floor of Nazareth Hall (the building just between the Totino Center and the lake, where the road takes a sharp left, the entrance is on the side that faces the lake,) at Northwestern College, 3003 North Snelling, Roseville Minnesota.
Dennis Petersen, author of Unlocking The Mysteries of Creation and founder of the Creation Resource Foundation, is a man with a passion for God and His Word. With a heart full of enthusiasm, he skillfully communicates the awesomeness of God in His creation. He combines delightful humor with a rare ability to simplify technical things, giving you the enjoyable feeling that you're on an adventure. Great for the whole family. He has authored a stimulating book, "Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation" which will be available. Mr. Petersen is very concerned that the spread of creation truth leads to spiritual transformation. * Why do Ancient Cultures get tagged "mysterious?" * How can the Bible and modern advancements help our understanding of ancient cultures? * What would be the greatest impact of a society with extraordinary longevity? * What are the two major keys missing from modern education's understanding of ancient man? * ET or Noah --The Super Hero: Which makes more sense? * How can a better understanding of man's past improve the choices of our own future?
Having had academic training in science and history and ministerial training, he has worked as a museum curator, a college instructor of Old Testament and Christian evidences, and worked in pastoral leadership. He has traveled extensively presenting multi-media seminars that communicate compelling truths to children and academics alike. CRF is devoted to giving families helpful "tools" to build a confidently Bible-based 'world view" and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as The Creator.

Martin Klein, Professor Emeritus of Physics and History of Science, Yale University
Abstract: Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein discussed and disagreed about the seemingly paradoxical nature of the quantum theory for over 30 years. This lecture will deal with the beginnings of that dialogue a few years before the formulation of quantum mechanics in the mid-1920s. The remarkable role played in these discussions by "the third man," Paul Ehrenfest, is a significant part of the story.

"Time, Motion and Relativity"
Dr. Glenn Collins of Common Sense Science
For High School and up with a science background.
Dr. Glen Collins spoke on Time, Motion and Relativity and Light-Speed and Aether as subtopics of the overall theme of "Common Sense Physics", presented as an overview of the following themes:
Physics as Science During the 'classical' period, physical theory was developed and tested by the Scientific Method. Classical physicists searched for the fundamental order they believed to exist in accordance with principles of objective reality, causality, and unity.
Physics as Pantheism Coupled with Einstein's contradictory combination of the principles of relativity and constancy, this principle of chance became the dominant philosophy of physics early in the Twentieth Century under the name "Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle."
Common Sense Physics as Science Common Sense Science uses underlying axioms, principles, and models that accurately predict the common and laboratory observations of nature:
All matter, forces, and energy are fundamentally electromagnetic in character.
Charge is the essential substance of the elementary particles.
Conservation of energy.

"Atomic Structure: Why Do We Care?"
Dr. Glen Collins of Common Sense Science
Dr. Collins spoke on the Common Sense Science model of atomic structure, including the most recent work by Dr. Bill Lucas on particle fine structure. Dr. Lucas' work provides a helicon-based explanation of particle accelerator traces, and is the first comprehensive alternative to the Standard Model's ‘particle zoo.' The presentation explained why it is important that causal, refined-Classical-electrodynamics-based alternatives are developed and understood by an increasing number of scientists to combat anti-God theories based upon relativistic and randomness-oriented scientific models.

What every Christian should know. The Two Best Kept Secret Weaknesses of
Evolutionism. When you know these, the rest of evolution is a fairy
tale.
A colorful presentation easily understood by all ages. This evidence can
be used to crack the foundations that will bring Evolutionism tumbling
down.
Imagine you are a soldier in WWII. A spy comes to you and says he knows
the two most important weaknesses of the enemy. With this knowledge, you
can destroy his hold over millions of people. Wouldn't you want to know
what these weaknesses are?
A renowned evolutionist, attempting to prove that birds descended from
dinosaurs, discovered the number one weakness and was barred from further
research in the museum.
A young woman training to be a doctor discovered the number 2 weakness
while a sophomore in college. She was not a Christian but decided, based
upon this discovery, that evolutionism was false science. She later
became a Christian and creationist.
This is Need to Know information. If you have not discovered the
answer yet, Russ McGlenn, who has been behind enemy lines, will reveal
these two secrets at the TCCSA meeting May 20th 2003. Tontino Hall,

"The Fall of Babylon"
Clyde E. Billington
The Fall of Babylon is recorded in Daniel ch. 5. One hundred years ago, Bible critics said that they could prove that Daniel 5 contained a major historical error, because the famous Babylonian King List did not mention a king named Belshazzar. Archaeological discoveries later proved Daniel 5's historical accuracy. The historical details of Daniel 5, dealing with the Fall of Babylon in one night to the Persian army and the murder of Belshazzar that same night, have been proven correct by both historical and archaeological evidence. In his presentation, Dr. Billington will give this historical and archaeological evidence and also show slides of Babylon and of important archaeological discoveries made there.
Clyde E. Billington has earned four colleges degrees, including a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in ancient history. Dr. Billington is an associate professor of ancient history at Northwestern College, where he has taught for the last ten years. Dr. Billington frequently gives presentations in churches on archaeology and the Bible.

"The Exodus: Fact or Fiction"
Dr. Charles Aling
Dr. Charles Aling has been Professor of History at Northwestern College
for the past sixteen years. He earned his Ph.D. in Ancient History and
Egyptology from the University of Minnesota and has served as an officer in Army
Intelligence. In 1991 he was the Sears Foundation Teacher of the Year. In
addition to his tenure in the classroom, Dr. Aling has been Assistant Field
Director on two archaeological expeditions to the Valley of the Kings in
Egypt -- discovering mummies and lost treasures from the times of the
Pharaohs!
Dr. Aling bring us up-to-date on the current thinking about the Exodus in the secular community, and talk about the theory that the Exodus did not occur. He will point out the truthfulness of the Biblical account, that there was an Exodus and it occurred when the Bible says it did. This was not in the time of Ramses II like Hollywood and like some scholars would have us believe. He will unveil some new evidence that is not yet published.
This is a subject of great dispute among scholars of merit and Dr. Aling has participated in
public debates on the subject.

"Biblical Recipe for Good Health"
Rev. Dave Fruehauf
The presentation covered 2 basic aspects - 1. Nutritional Health 2. Psychological/Emotional Health
"The Bible tells which foods can bring nutrition and health to our bodies. It also has much to
say about nutrition for the soul for healthy living and healing. The presentation will reflect
our Creator God's concern for our total well-being."
The human body is an incredibly complex and marvelous machine designed by the Creator. His instruction book details ways to get the optimal performance from this living machine.
The presentation will cover some of the basic principles of healthy living emphasizing nutrition, but also touching on emotions. James says - don't let the sun go down on your anger. If we do that we prevent things from festering, causing possible havoc to our physical and emotional well-being. Proverbs tells us laughter is good for the bones.
David Fruehauf has been working for 5 years as a pastoral counselor at CEFC. He has a Masters in counseling and psychology, and a M.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He was an Assistant Pastor for 2 & 1/2 years at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayzata, and was also at Vision of Glory Lutheran Church for 11 years. His basic career was in education, he was a mathematics teacher and high school counselor. Nutrition has been his hobby, he has been studying it for about 20 years.
He was TCCSA's first President. He gave presentations on creation topics for about 8 years in church settings and also to the high school science classes at both Armstrong and Cooper High Schools.

Have you been to the Home School Science Fairs? They are great! Some of the best and brightest kids in Minnesota were there. You could have learned how stable the Ark was in strong winds, how to, and how not to make yogurt, how weight effects the speed of a sled, and how to get energy from chicken droppings. Over 60 projects were up for display with many passersby stopping to check them out. It was a wonderful opportunity to place a Christian viewpoint of science before the public. For detailed directions call Julie Von Vett, 651-464-4361 or consult /adventure/fair.html.
